SHAKE the Shasta-Keith neighborhood association (http://shasta-keith.org)
Now SHAKE holds an annual potluck and conducts an annual drill simulating the neighborhood response
to an earthquake. In emergencies SHAKE will field squads
to address Fire and Rescue, First Aid, Communications, Fire Control,
and Security.
To facilitate response to emergencies SHAKE maintains a directory of all households and maps of the location of water, electricity, and gas turnoff devices for each household. (The directory and maps are provided to active SHAKE members only.) SHAKE has also greatly expanded the cache of first aid and emergency equipment provided by the City of Berkeley. Above all, SHAKE promotes emergency preparedness of individual households with information bulletins, group purchases of equipment, and encourages the taking of CERT emergency classes offerred by the City of Berkeley. Voluntary contributions are solicited whenever the need to purchase additional equipment is agreed upon by active members.
SHAKE has prepared emergency instructions for our
own Shasta-Keith neighborhood.
